NUREMBERG, Germany -- Visitors to the 2006 International Trade Fair Refrigeration, Air Conditioning, Ventilation Trade Fair (IKK) left here better acquainted with the products and technologies that help meet European Union directives addressing energy use and global warming. But knowing where and when the next fair would be held for Germany's air conditioning and refrigerating industry was another matter. The tale about the goose that laid the golden egg came readily to mind as many exhibitors displayed signs launching Chillventa at Nuremberg in 2008 while the owners of IKK promoted Stuttgart as its 2008 home. Oh, and there will be a 2007 IKK event within the Aircontec section of ISH, the giant heating and plumbing show at Frankfurt. Talk about confusion. Not even a two-hour press conference organized by the owners of the IKK brand, an association of German contracting firms, fully clarified the IKK-ISH connection.
